Aftermath of Joo Ho-min's Special Teacher A Lawsuit... Calm Man (ChimChakMan) Hints at Retirement → Progression Towards Broadcasting Expulsion
[Sports Chosun Reporter Baek Ji-eun] The aftermath of webtoon artist Joo Ho-min's lawsuit against special teacher A continues.
Calm Man (ChimChakMan), a close friend of Joo Ho-min, hinted at ceasing his activities. On the 4th, while broadcasting with YouTuber Orbit, he said, "I haven't decided yet, but I want to quit." He added, hinting at retirement, "I might take a break around Chuseok in September. I think I need to watch the situation a little more and make a decision."
Calm Man had previously halted his activities due to burnout starting in March. After about three weeks of rest, he returned to his regular schedule but was recently forced to clarify his position related to the Joo Ho-min incident. Calm Man said, "It's heartbreaking to see this incident as a close friend of Joo Ho-min. Thank you for waiting calmly." He also expressed caution, saying, "No matter what I say, it might be conveyed differently from the original intention," but netizens showered him with dislikes and criticism. Many opinions suggest that Calm Man is considering ceasing his broadcast due to mental distress from this series of events.
Last September, Joo Ho-min reported Teacher A for abusing his son B, who suffers from Autism Spectrum Disorder.
However, as fellow teachers of A and other parents appealed for A's clemency and exposed that B and Joo Ho-min's family had frequently caused problems, public opinion rapidly worsened.
As a result, Joo Ho-min is essentially being expelled from the broadcasting industry. SBS PowerFM's 'Bae Seong-jae's Ten' corner, where Joo Ho-min appeared as a panelist, has been replaced with another corner, and tvN's 'Ramyeon Old Man, Summer Camp' has indefinitely postponed its first broadcast. The web entertainment 'Joo and Kian84's Traveling' also temporarily halted its release.
Joo Ho-min published a second statement and said he would submit a petition asking for Teacher A's clemency, but public opinion has worsened further due to false statement controversies and criticisms of 'victim cosplay.'
