BTS Unavailable? Presenting Newjins... Jamboree K-Pop Concert, 'Haphazard' Performer Recruitment

The girl group Newjins' appearance at the Jamboree K-Pop Concert has been confirmed.

According to the entertainment industry on the 7th, Newjins, who recently finished a performance in the United States and returned to Korea, is expected to take the stage at the '2023 World Scout Jamboree K-Pop Super Live.'

Initially, the Jamboree K-Pop Concert was scheduled to be held on the 6th at the outdoor stage in Saemangeum, Jeonbuk Buan. However, due to the ongoing heatwave and the increase in heat-related illnesses, the venue and schedule were changed, and the location was confirmed to be Jeonju World Cup Stadium on the 11th.

Due to the sudden change in schedule, there have been reports of non-appearances by some singers and MCs, including ENMIX, VERIVERY, and actor Jang Dong-yoon.

Therefore, the success of the Jamboree event, which had an investment of 110 billion won, was uncertain. The government then proposed the appearance of world star BTS. However, their appearance was also not confirmed.

As of today (7th), there are only 4 days left until the Jamboree concert. During this period, not only is scheduling for the BTS members required, but also planning for the performance and equipment is needed. It is difficult to match the schedule of those who are currently active as soloists or in military service. Especially in V's case, he is busy preparing for his solo album release.

Moreover, even if the appearance is confirmed, the stage preparation time is too short. Installing stage equipment usually takes 3-4 days. It's uncertain whether the stage will be set up properly due to overlapping typhoons. Performing without enough rehearsal and choreography practice is unthinkable. Top singers like BTS are sensitive to stage equipment and planning. They are recognized for wanting to deliver a top-notch performance that lives up to their name.

For these practical reasons, there are claims that the lineup was hastily switched from BTS to Newjins. A situation where the appearance of BTS could not be secured. There is an analysis that HYBE, unable to resist the government's pressure, offered the subsidiary label group Newjins. In reality, there's nowhere to book Newjins just a few days before the performance. There are inevitable criticisms that the government made a private company do something unwanted under the pretext of a national event.

Currently, the 'Saemangeum World Scout Jamboree' event is being criticized for hurried administration. Poor management and harsh conditions, along with sexual abuse suspicions, have caused a stir. The government's frustrating response and operation have ultimately turned against K-pop artists and entertainment companies. The situation, carried out under the pretext of a gift for the Jamboree participants, contains national violence and is concerning.
